| Interesting links. Theres quite a prominant political analyst called Christopher Hitchins in the UK whose views are much the same as those. I used to hate the guy but the more you hear him speak, the debate on whether we are accelerating the rate of global warming (if it is indeed warming) comes harder to answer. I mean, i'm very pro-green but with so much dis-agreement between the scientists that actually have the stats and facts, it's hard to make a solid opinion. Also, the fact that in England (don't know about elsewhere) people who refuse to accept that C02 emmisions and such are having a direct impact on global warming are almost villafied, which makes the whole so called 'debate' somewhat biased. I don't know exactly what to think about global warming anymore. All i believe is that the annual temp. of the planet is rising at an un-precidented rate, and that it probably isn't simply coincidence that it has been rising steadily as levels of pollution have risen. Whatever though, pollution levels will continue to rise, the economies of countries like India and China demands it to. It's funny how countries in post-indutrialisation and tertiary development can tell others that desperately need the economic growth that they must cut down on their emmisions. The whole thing gets very hypocritical and makes me an angry panda. In conclusion, the debate has become trivialised and boring, strange for such a pivotal moment in the worlds future. It's all balls, we're going to die, civilisation is doomed, i'm off for a doughnut and a mug of tea. Pip pip! | |

| The whole idea where non-believers are villafied the way they are is what got me to wanting to find out for myself. The more research I do, the more made-up the whole hysteria seems. Not believing in global warming today is on par with not believing in God in the 12th century. It's blasphemous.
It just bothers me how everyone hears a few people say a few facts about global warming, and they all eat it up. You for example, said something untrue in your own above statement. Today's warm up is not unprecedented. The time chart that can be found in link 2 shows that the temperature was even warmer during the 11th century or so.
Not that that was an insult against you or anythging, I'm just saying its unfair how people are basically forced to believe these things, many of which, like the above fact, have already been proven false.

| You did just sort of pick on one part of my comment. I guess I am mis-informed, but it gets awfully dull listening to 'MR JOE BLOGGS of such and such a university' or 'Specialist X on Climate Change' continually contradicting one another.
I agree it's bad about the villafication and the lack of any real debate that's going on. But in a way isn't mans effect on global warming just a shiny impact phrase from environmentalists? If the whole thing is a scam (and i agree it looks more likely that it is) then they must have created it. Surely it is just a big impact idea, covering what is essentially our destruction of the planet anyway. Habitat, animal species, you name it, we screw it over. When you hear people talking about the extinction of an animal the majority of people think ooo that's bad, and will forget in a few days. This argument has been going on for years now, and has made even the most right wing capitalist stand up and say something.
With your amount of research you obviously know more about it than I do. I'm completely open to changing my mind and after looking at the links properly I think the whole thing is a conspiracy. Though I can't see anything bad about this conpiracy as it's making people think more about the conservation of the planet which has to be good!

| It's just that science, something based on hard fact, research, experiments etc should NOT in my opinion be used for the sake of personal gain. Science should be completely non-biased, but in cases like global warming and the since falsified claims of second hand smoke, science is being used a political tool.
If you want to make people help the planet, make them want to help the planet, don't just make shit up to scare them into doing it. It undermines every other piece of research if that's what we're going to use science for.

| Hey guys, just a question, what's the counterpart of the GreenHouse Effect? I think it starts with an I and then has also an effect or something in its name? | |
